Project: Vampyroteuthis infernalis

I finished my Vampyroteuthis infernalis plush this weekend. He is based off the Cute Octopus pattern I shared on this blog, but I have modified him to have the usual 8 tentacles, or arms to be more precise.

I brought him along to a family get-together on Sunday and my cousins thought he was really cute, so I am considering him to be a great success.  I'm going to try and get my act together and make a few octys for my etsy shop in different species.  Would you want one?

Species: Vampyroteuthis infernalis
Common Name: the vampire squid (from 'Hell')
Nickname: Toofis

Despite his fearsome teeth, Toofis is actually a friendly beast that prefers to munch on gummy bears and cookies rather than human flesh. Though that doesn't stop him from taking an occasional nibble, just to make sure. His big blue eyes help him to spot movement, even in utter darkness. As a result, he takes delight pouncing on unsuspecting victims while they sleep to give them a big hug with his tentacles.

  1. Adorable! Thank you so much for modifying the pattern! I love how he sits with all his tentacles spread out around him. :) Of course, once I make this one, I may have to make more under-the-sea themed stuffies for my little one. Hmm... ;)
